Welcome to WSNA Citizens on Patrol

We have a very active group of citizens who patrol the neighborhood.  Please watch this site for more information.

As of December 2008, the Wedgwood South Neighborhood has had a slight rise in crime.  Burglaries have been the main issue.  Burglaries of vehicles have occurred mostly with those that are parked on the street (during the dark hours) and with those that are in parking lots (during light hours).  Burglaries of homes are mostly occurring during the day while people are gone, possibly by those who know their schedules.

Thieves are OPPORTUNISTS…Please do all that you can to protect your property.  Lock your car, lock your house, and use your alarms.  Move valuable property out of sight and/or remove it from your vehicle; this includes your garage door opener.

Do not give thieves a reason to want to break into your property- if you’re not using it, put it away!

District 6 has the lowest crime in our city!

Earl Wilson sent Jungus Jordan, our District 6 Councilman, an email asking him about this topic.

Earl stated, “I have heard you state that District 6 is the safest district in Fort Worth for the past two or three years on many occasions.  I am interested in the criteria that you use to make this statement and your source of data.”

Jungus Jordan replied  and said,  “The Chief of Police publishes a quarterly report on crime stats. That report lists the crime rates and statistics by each Council District. In those reports District 6 is consistently the lowest percentage in the city by several percentage points. The data is based upon the National Incident Based Reporting System. The reports are available on the city’s web site for each quarter. I have asked that you be provided a copy of the last report.”

Neighbors - we do have a safe neighborhood.  WSNA is patrolled by Candleridge and Wedgwood Citizens on Patrols (COPS).  Together both groups in September of 2008 accounted for 165 patrols for 264 hours by 32 patrollers  So, thank a patroller when you see one and wave to them when you see them drive by.

Let’s be careful and watch out for our neighbors.
